Hawaiian Vacation.....Day 5

Wednesday started with our breakfast walk.  Perfect.  We were leaving at noon to head to the Polynesian Cultural Center, so had a few hours to kill.  I chose to use my time by the pool while Shawn chose to read up in the room.  I'm a sun worshipper.  Shawn is a sun avoider.  We're both okay with who we are enough to be comfortable doing our own things when it comes to this.
We decided to leave at noon and eat lunch.  We ended up driving all the way to the city where the culture center is before we ate.  Since the Hawaii LDS Temple is down the street from the culture center, we spent a bit of time on the grounds before heading there.  The grounds of the Temple are beautiful.  Temple grounds are always well kept and beautiful, but there's just something about palm trees that makes everything seem spectacular.

After walking around the outside of the Temple we headed to the Polynesian Cultural Center to see what it had to offer.  I have to admit, we were kind of skeptical.  We'd heard a lot of good things about the place, but it sounded like it was mainly for kids.  Kind of not exciting if you don't have kids with you.  So when we got there at 3:00, and started looking around, we realized we should have gone right at opening.  So much to see, and only 2 hours before our scheduled Luau.  We started with a boat ride.

We landed in Tahiti.  We saw a sampling of how the Tahitians dance.
Then we headed over to Tonga.  Where they host a pretty hilarious show.  Ed got pulled up on stage and did us all proud!

On stage they called him "Missouri".  Throughout the rest of the week we ran into people on the street that said "way to go Missouri!".  Who would've thought a little stage show would make one so famous?!  We bought a few souvenirs after the show.

Then it was time to head to the Luau.  We were treated to authentic Luau food while watching snippets of hula dancers.

After the Luau we wandered around a bit before the big production of "Ka: the breath of Life".  No pictures were allowed.  But.  Trust me.  It was a great show.  It represented the Polynesian Islands through dance and custom.  It was beautifully done.  And made us stay up until 10:30!  Super late night for us old folks.

A DAY IN THE LIFE

This is a simple little blog about me and my family. Nothing fancy, just experiences that make me who I am. Take it or leave it. I'll still be just me.
